Chocobo Forests are locations in FInal Fantasy VIII where you can solve puzzles for various prizes. There are a total of seven forests throughout the game. If a puzzle is solved correctly the player will be able to ride a chocobo on the world map and be given prizes that vary from forest to forest. If the player doesnt want to solve the puzzle they can pay the resident chocoboy to catch a chocobo for 1,200 give. However catching a chocbo in this way will not alow you to have access to the prizes.
Catching a chocobo in the Steam version earns the player the achievement «Chocobo».
Solving the puzzles involves making chicobos appear and dissappear with the ChocoZiner until there is only one Chicobo left on the map. The player can find the spots where Chicobos are hidden by using the ChocoSonar. When there is only one chicobo left on the map the player can click on the chicobo which will make a sound and its mother will come out of the forest. At this point you can either ride the chocobo on the world map or use the chocobo to dig up hidden treasure. Each map has one spot with hidden treasure. The treasure can be found using the ChocoSonar. When you have found the treasure on the specific map the chocobo will be waiting for you next time you enter the forest without having to solve the puzzle again.
Chocbo Forests are an optional part of the game. They can also be done in any order. Anytime after completing the first puzzle you can talk to Chocoboy and he will give you the Guardian Force Boko for the Chocobo World game.

Location: Sorbald Snowfied (South of Shumi Village).

Location: Winter Island (Next to Shumi Village)

Location: Lenown Plains ( East of Edea’s House)
Difficulty: Medium
Reward: Meteor Stone, Flare Stone, Ultima Stone
Location: Nectar Peninsula (South of Fisherman’s Horizon
Difficulty: Hard
Reward: Protect Stone, Meteor stone
Note: If you do not have the airship you will need to walk around a mountain on foot to have access to this chocobo forest.
Location: Talle Mountains (Southern part of Esthar)
Difficulty: Hard
Reward: Meteor Stone, Holy Stone, Ultima Stone
Location: Chocobo Island (Only reachable by using a chocobo)
Difficulty: N/A
Reward: Chicobo Card, Gysahl Greens (you will lose 600 Gil)
Note: In order to get to Chocobo Sanctuary you will need to ride a chocobo from the Chocobo Forest North of Trabia Garden to the Heath Peninsula and then across a shallow spot in the ocean to Chocbo Island.
Q: When will I have access to the Chocbo Forest Side Quest?
A: Disc 2 when Balamb Garden becomes mobile
Q: Do I need an airship to reach any of the gardens?
A: No, all of them can be reached by walking or riding a chocobo.
Q: At what point in the game does this quest become unattainable?
A: Never, unlike other side quests there are no restraints on doing this quest on disc 2 3 or 4.

2.Основной Лес (Начинающий)
Расположение: Трабия, Сненжная Равнина Сорбалд (дальше на юг от Деревни Шуми)
Подсказка: Вам надо посвистеть два раза.
Здесь 5 Чокобо. Встаньте в центр и посвистите в Чокозинер, должно упасть 3 Чокобо, встаньте дальше, но на одной линии с двумя и посвистите еще раз, должно упасть еще 2 Чокобо. Теперь отправьте обратно самого крайнего, слева внизу, с собой он заберет еще одного. Теперь отправьте обратно самого крайнего, вверху слева, он так же заберет с собой еще одного. Мама появится, после того как вы схватите последнего. При помощи ЧокоСонара найдите место, где лежит Огненый Камень.
3.Бродячий Лес (Средний)
Расположение: Трабия, Снежная Равнина Бика (на север от Сада Трабия)
Подсказка: Будьте осторожны со звуком ЧокоСонара.
В этом лесу 4 Чокобо, два из них уже на земле. Выберите ЧокоЗинер и отправьте этих двух обратно на дерево. Идите к выходу, у упавшего дерева вызовите еще одного, хватайте его и мама появится. Снова используйте ЧокоСонар и найдите место, где лежат: Святой Камень и Камень Оболочки.
4.Лес Одиночества (Средний)
Расположение: Центра, Полуостров Нектара (на север от Центра Руин)
Подсказка: Ищите внимательно, когда засигналит ЧокоСонар.
В этом лесу только 1 Чокобо, но он хорошо спрятался. Тихо не спеша, исследуйте место выше Чокобоя справа. Почти на самом верху, на участке травы, что освещается солнцем и есть Чокобо, ловите его. После того как появится мама, предложите сыграть в карты Чокобою, можете не играть с ним карты у него не очень, но зато обязательно попросите его отойти в сторону. На том месте, где он стоял, при помощи ЧокоСонара найдите Камень Защиты и Метеор.
5.Лес Забавы (Эксперт)
Расположение: Центра, Равнина Сов (на востоке от Дома Идии)
Подсказка: Это Чокобоулинг, 4 Чококегли и 1 Чокошар.
Здесь 5 Чокобо, как видно из подсказки надо выстроить кегли и разбить их мячом. Прямо по центру надо вызвать одного Чокобо, с ним упадет еще два. Встать за левым крайним и позвать еще одного. После этого найти и позвать последнего, возле Чокобоя слева он находится, последнего и хватать, после чего и появится мама. Используйте ЧокоСонар, чтобы найти место, где лежит Метеор, Огненый Камень и Камень Ультимы.
6.Закрытый Лес (Эксперт)
Расположние: Южнее Последних Ворот
Подсказка: Соберите всех, потом входите.
Здесь 5 Чокобо. Встаньте напротив Чокобоя и при помощи ЧокоЗинера вызовите Чокобо, упадут 2, за Чокобоем. Встаньте немного дальше и выше левого и вызывайте еще одного, при этом, что справа был, опять улетит. Подойдите на его место и позовите его, он спустится один. Далее за правым почти в самом углу позовите еще одного. Встаньте в центр между ними всеми и зовите последнего и хватайте. Так же найдите: Метеор, Огненый Камень и Камень Ультимы.
7.Святой лес Чокобо
До него можно добраться только на Чокобо. И идти туда нужно только после того как вы поймаете всех Чокобо, во всех 6 лесах. Возьмите себе Чокобо в лесу на востоке от Сада Трабия. Идите от леса на юг, до кратера. Сверните тут на восток и идите до пляжа. По мелководью перейдите на другой пляж на острове, который весь зарос деревьями. Как зайдете в лес все время держитесь левой стороны и скоро доберетесь до Леса Чокобо. В лесу вас ждет представление. И вам дадут Чокобо Карту. Перед тем как уходить попросите Чокобоя, пусть он вам поймает последний раз Чокобо, так вы быстрее доберетесь обратно. Также каждый раз, возвращаясь в этот лес, вы можете покупать Траву Гизала за 600 Gil.

There is only one chicobo in this area. However, you have to pin point the exact spot on the map for the chicobo to show up. Take your time and search slowly and you should be able to pin point it on the first try.
Challenge Chicoboy to a game of cards to to him to move so you can search for the treasure he is standing on.

There is no puzzle to solve in the last Chocobo forest. After solving the six previous puzzles all of the chocobos from each forest congregate here. Speak with the chicobo after a brief scene of the chocobos dancing to get the Chicobo card. Speak with the chicobo a second time to get some Gysahl Greens. If you chose to speak with the chicobo a second time it will steal 600 gil from you.
