Ботанический Парк Крита

Ботанический парк – одна из новейших достопримечательностей Крита, посещение которой доставит большое удовольствие любителям природы. Это прекрасное место для небольшого перерыва в пляжном отдыхе. Этот парк – частный проект одной местной семьи, сады которой пострадали от пожара в октябре 2003 года. На месте пепелища четыре брата решили создать ботанический сад, где были бы представлены не только образцы критской и греческой флоры, но и растения из разных стран мира. Так началась история ботанического парка на Крите.

На сегодняшний день его общая площадь составляет около 20 гектаров. Поскольку парк еще достаточно молодой, то тенистых мест не так уж и много. Но хозяева позаботились о том, чтобы гостям было комфортно гулять даже в солнечные дни – при необходимости посетителям при входе выдают большие «фирменные» зонты. Свой путь вы начинаете по тропинке, ведущей вниз к небольшому пруду и мини-зоопарку, где живут гуси, косули, свинки и страусы.

Вторая часть маршрута будет проходить по дорожке вверх. Парк засажен самыми разнообразными растениями, травами, цветами, лиственными и плодовыми деревьями. Они подобраны таким образом, чтобы круглый год сад утопал в их цветении либо радовал посетителей сочными и спелыми плодами. Каждое растение посажено с соблюдением необходимых условий и температурного режима, влажности воздуха и освещенности. Детям наверняка будет интересно увидеть, как растут, например, ананасы, апельсин, киви, или понюхать какой-нибудь необычный цветок.

Вдоль тропинок в парке установлены указатели, которые помогут посетителям сориентироваться на местности. Пешая прогулка займет около двух часов. Здесь все смогут насладиться природой, подышать свежим и ароматным воздухом, отдохнуть в тени деревьев. При входе в парк находится небольшой ресторан с местной кухней, где после экскурсии посетители с особым настроением дегустируют вкуснейшие блюда местной кухни. Кстати, все продукты, используемые в приготовлении блюд, экологически чисты и выращены в этой же местности.

The Botanical Park & Gardens of Crete grew from the ashes of that devastating fire.

Nearly 20 hectares of land are waiting to welcome you, full of fruit trees from all over the world, herbs, medicinal and ornamental plants in a park different from others, where the land’s formation and the region’s microclimate make it a paradise for thousands of plants and animals!

In the midst of this colorful and vivid landscape stands a burnt centennial olive tree, a memorial and a reference to the dismal fires of 2003, the park’s history and origin.

USEFUL INFORMATION

The trail through the Park is natural and entirely suitable for walking, covering a total hillside distance of approximately 2.5 km. At the beginning, the trail follows the mountain slope with ascending and descending routes to finish at the lake of the Park, followed by a twisty path leading to the exit and the restaurant of the Park.

1. 1. As the trails and the routes through the Park are natural and dependent on the soil composition, it is recommended that visitors wear comfortable shoes such as trainers.
2. 2. The average time needed for visitors to wander through the Gardens is approximately 2-2.5 hours. There is, however, no time limit on how long visitors can stay at the Gardens.
3. 3. During the summer season, the best time to visit the Gardens is in the morning to avoid excessive heat and to allow ample time for your stroll without any time pressure.
4. 4. As the Gardens are the natural habitat of wild animals, dogs are prohibited so as not to disrupt the ecosystem of the Gardens in line with the related regulations of the Greek Forestry Department. However, dogs are allowed on the premises of the Gardens restaurant.
5. 5. The Gardens feature several visitor rest areas.
6. 6. At the entrance of the Gardens is a restaurant offering panoramic views of the area, traditional dishes made of locally sourced, organic ingredients and products from the plants of the Park.
7. 7. The Botanical Park of Crete is open daily from early March to end of November, from 9:00 am to 8:30 pm in the evening. School or society visits and the use of the amphitheatre are welcomed upon prior consultation.
8. 8. Admission fee is 7 euros for adults and 4 euros for children aged between 6 and 12 years. Entry for children under 6 years old is free.
